Crafted in India

Made by hand

The original home of the Shakti Mat, and where our Classic Mats and Pillows are made is the holy city of Varanasi.  In the rural outskirts of the city, it can be difficult for females to find meaningful employment.

When the Gratitude Factory was first formed in 2008, the vision was to create a sanctuary for female employees where they could become self-sufficient and financially independent in an inclusive and safe space.

All women employed at The Gratitude Factory are paid a living wage, sick leave and holiday leave. They are provided weekly meals, time for daily puja, free medical care, and an emergency medical fund for them and their families.

    Even better than the mat!

I was already a fan of the mat, but in my opinion, this pillow is the winner of the two. The curved shape really supports your neck instead of squeezing it flat, so the pressure goes exactly where the tension is. For me, at the bottom of the neck and on top of the shoulders, exactly the place you can never get hold of with your hands.

It's more intense than the mat because all your weight is on a smaller surface, so ten minutes is more than enough for me. I also put it under my lower back regularly and it works just as well.

Good to know: the pillow is firm, not a soft pillow. That is exactly what it should be. Cover off, wash, done. I would buy again in a moment.

A must have with the Shakti mat

This goes so well with the mat and provides the same great accupressure feel to the neck that the mat does for the back. I highly recommend getting them both together for the relaxation and benefits they provide.

Such a relaxing way to destress

I was skeptical and a bit concerned whether I would like this when I bought it (based on the recommendation of a friend). The first time or two, it seems a bit daunting...but now it is so relaxing. Enough that my fitness tracker always asks if I'm doing yoga...but nope, just enjoying the intense (but not too intense) accupressure effects of this. Well made and pairs just right with the pillow (that I'd also recommend).

    Good, but

I've been using my shakti mat for a little while now, and it's been ok . I wanted a mat that would give me more intensity than the ones I've been using before I bought this mat. The intensity will taking some time to get used to but that's totally fine I wanted more intense I've gotten that for sure! The thing that really will take time to get used to is the thickness of the foam of the shakti mat. It isn't that comfortable for me, my other mats have a thinner inner foam and this is a thicker foam and probably a better quality which makes it a bit hard at the edges making it feel like as if there is a ridge in my back. Fingers crossed I will get used to that as well!

And one more thing I didn't expect at all I can't lie on my older mats anymore because I don't fee'l them at all anymore ;-)
